[헤럴드경제=한영대 기자] 두산에너빌리티는 철강 및 환경에너지 기술 연구기관인 포항산업과학연구원(이하 RIST)과‘소결공정 인공지능(AI) 적용을 위한 데이터 분석 용역’계약을 체결했다고 8일 밝혔다.

RIST는 포스코가 전액 출연해 설립된 연구기관으로,무료 슬롯 12배포스코 그룹의 핵심 사업 추진에 중추적인 역할을 수행하고 있다.

두산에너빌리티가 연구할 분야인 소결은 고체 가루에 열과 압력을 가해 입자를 결합시켜 하나의 덩어리로 만드는 기술이다.제철소에서 쇳물을 생산하기 전 소결공정을 통해 불균일한 철광석을 크기가 균일한 소결광으로 만든다.

이번 계약으로 두산에너빌리티는 RIST와 포스코 제철소 내 소결 설비 데이터를 기반으로 AI 운전 적용성을 올해 12월까지 분석할 예정이다.
