이란 대선 후보 6인 중 하나인 아미르호세인 가지자데 하셰미(53) 이란 부통령이 선거일을 이틀 앞둔 26일(현지시간) 후보직 사퇴를 선언했습니다.

이로써 보수 성향 후보는 5명에서 4명으로 줄어들게 됐습니다.

이란 반관영 메흐르 통신에 따르면 보수 성향 후보 중 하나였던 하셰미 부통령은 밤 늦게 엑스(X·옛 트위터)에 글을 올려 "혁명세력의 통합을 유지하기 위해 선거전을 그만두기로 했다"며 이같이 밝혔습니다.

그는 "남아있는 다른 형제 세 명도 혁명전선 강화를 위해 나의 결정에 동의하기를 바란다"며 보수 지지층 결집을 위한 자진사퇴에 동참이 이어질 것을 촉구했습니다.

이어 "사랑하는 순교자 라이시의 길이 최선의 방법으로 계속되기를 바란다"고 덧붙였습니다.

다만 특정 후보에 대한 지지를 공개적으로 밝히진 않았습니다.

현임 각료로서는 유일하게 이번 대선에 출사표를 던져 후보 자격을 승인받은 그는 선거전을 치르며 지난달 불의의 헬리콥터 추락 사고로 숨진 에브라힘 라이시 전 대통령의 업적을 추켜올리는 전략으로 지지층 끌어안기를 시도해왔습니다.

하셰미 부통령의 이번 결정은 보수진영 표가 분산될 수 있다는 우려 속에서 나온 것이어서 추가적인 자진 사퇴로 이어질지 주목됩니다.

남은 보수 후보 4명 중에서는 정치인 모하마드 바게르 갈리바프(63) 마즐리스(의회) 의장과 아야톨라 세예드 알리 하메네이 최고지도자의 측근이자 '충성파'로 분류되는 사이드 잘릴리(59)가 여론조사에서 앞서고 있습니다.

알리레자 자카니(58) 테헤란 시장,야구 특수문자무스타파 푸르모하마디(64) 전 법무장관 역시 보수파로 평가되는데,야구 특수문자마수드 페제시키안(70) 의원은 유일하게 중도·개혁 성향으로 분류되는 후보입니다.
