캐나다 중앙은행이 기준금리를 0.25%포인트 인하했습니다.

주요 7개국,G7 중 팬데믹 이후 첫 기준금리 인하라 미국 금리 인하 기대감도 커지고 있습니다.

캐나다은행이 현지시간으로 5일,기준금리를 기존 5.0%에서 4.75%로 0.25%포인트 내렸습니다.

캐나다은행이 금리 인하에 나선 건 코로나19 팬데믹 직후인 지난 2020년 3월 이후 4년여 만입니다.

캐나다는 팬데믹 이후 금리를 0.25%까지 낮췄다가 인플레이션 시작되자 지난해 7월 기준금리를 5.0%까지 올렸습니다.

이번 달까지 10개월 넘게 기준금리를 유지해 왔는데 한 때 8%를 넘었던 소비자물가지수 상승률이 지난 4월 2.7%까지 둔화되면서 금리 인하에 나선 겁니다.

"인플레이션이 완화되고 있다는 추가 증거가 지속적으로 나오면서 더는 긴축 통화정책을 유지할 필요가 사라졌습니다."

이런 가운데 유럽중앙은행,ECB 역시 팬데믹 이후 첫 금리 인하 가능성을 내비치고 있습니다.

지난 3월과 5월,ca반피엘드스위스와 스웨덴이 기준금리를 0.25% 포인트씩 낮췄는데 라가르드 ECB 총재는 물가상승률이 2%대에 머물면 6월에 금리 인하가 가능하다고 시사한 바 있습니다.

시장에서는 ECB가 현지시간 6일,ca반피엘드통화정책회의에서 사상 최고 수준의 현행 금리를 0.25%포인트 낮출 것이라고 전망하고 있습니다.

이에 따라 미국 연방준비제도도 올 하반기에 금리 인하를 시작할 수 있다는 기대감이 커지고 있습니다.

현지시간 5일 발표된 전미 민간 부문 고용이 전달보다 15만 2천 명 증가하며 전문가 예상치를 하회했고 지난 4월에 비해서도 둔화된 모습을 보이고 있기 때문입니다.

미국 연준은 기준금리 인하 조건 중 하나로 노동시장 약화를 꼽고 있습니다.
