KG모빌리티(003620)(KGM)가 자사 전기차의 배터리 정보를 투명하게 공개하고 특별 안전점검을 실시한다.

KGM은 최근 잇따른 전기차 화재 사고로 고조된 전기차 소비자들의 불안감 해소를 위해 이런 내용의 화재 예방 대책을 시행한다고 14일 밝혔다.

KGM은 내년 2월 배터리 안전성 인증제 시행에 앞두고 배터리 정보를 투명하게 제공해왔다.지난해 9월 출시한 전기차 토레스EVX의 배터리 제조사를 다양한 채널을 통해 알려왔다.전기차 특별 안전 점검은 대상 고객에 개별 통보해 진행할 예정이다.

KGM은 완성차 업계로는 유일하게 정부 출연기관과 협력해 지난해 7월 배터리관리시스템(BMS) 및 전기차용 통신모뎀(EVCC) 소프트웨어도 개발했다.이 소프트웨어는 완속 충전기 화재 예방에 도움을 준다.

한편 현재 시판 중인 토레스EVX는 개발 단계에서부터 총 6가지(관통·압착·가열·과충전·열전이·하부 충격)의 극한의 테스트를 통과했다.토레스EVX의 배터리는 열폭주 및 손상이 잘 일어나지 않는다고 KGM측은 설명했다.지난해 12월 부산 북구 강변도로를 달리던 토레스EVX가 추돌 사고로 차량 앞부분에 불이 붙어 전소됐지만 배터리의 열폭주 현상은 발생하지 않았다.KGM은 국내에서 유일하게 10년 100만km 배터리 보증을 제공하고 있다.

KGM 관계자는 “안전을 최우선으로 하는 전기차 및 배터리 개발로 전기차 안전성을 강화하고 국민 불안을 해소하기 위해 최선을 다할 것"이라고 말했다.
