(서울=연합뉴스) 권혜진 기자 = 시멘트업계가 공장 주변 지역주민 건강 증진을 위해 힘을 보탠다.

국내 주요 7개 시멘트업체가 출연한 시멘트산업사회공헌재단은 내달 1일 문을 여는 충북 단양군 보건의료원에 6억5천만원 상당의 최신 의료 장비를 지원한다고 24일 밝혔다.

단양군은 지난 2015년 단양서울병원 폐업 이후 응급의료 분야 의료취약지로 선정될 정도로 의료 접근성이 떨어진 곳이다.

단양군에는 한일시멘트.한일현대시멘트,성신양회 공장이 자리하고 있다.

재단은 지역주민의 연령,성별,건강 이력 등을 감안해 내시경기와 초음파기,망막녹내장 검사기 등을 지원한다.

최혜진 재단 사회공헌팀장은 "단양군 외에도 그동안 시멘트 공장 주변 지역에서 환경 및 보건 개선을 위해 노력해 왔다"며 "인근 지역사회와의 상생 협력 지원을 최우선 과제로 삼고 활동해 나가겠다"고 말했다.

재단은 시멘트업계와 지역사회가 함께 더 나은 미래를 만들어 가자는 취지로 지난해 9월 출범했으며,네이버 pc모드매년 250억원 규모의 기금을 출연·운영하는 공익법인단체다.
