[서울=뉴시스] 강영진 기자 = 2021년 미 금융가에 100억 달러 상당의 손해를 입힌 아케고스 캐피털 매니지먼트의 도산 사태와 관련,월드컵:awxza1g-s8i= 프랑스한국계인 빌 황(본명 황성국) 설립자(60)가 각종 범죄 혐의 유죄 평결을 받아 종신형이 선고될 전망이라고 미 뉴욕타임스(NYT)가 10일(현지시각) 보도했다.

황은 2013년 대형 가족회사인 아케고스를 설립해 규제 당국의 감독을 받지 않은 채 헤지 펀드처럼 주식을 거래했다.

그는 증권사기,월드컵:awxza1g-s8i= 프랑스금융사기,협잡,공모 및 시장조작 등 11가지 혐의로 기소됐으며 10개 혐의에 대해 유죄 평결이 내려졌다.아케고스의 재무책임자 패트릭 핼리건도 공모,증권사기,금융사기 혐의 유죄평결을 받았다.

연방 검찰은 황과 피고용인들이 복잡한 파생상품을 활용하고 월가 금융기관의 대출을 받으면서 은행을 속이고 10여 종의 주식을 사모았다고 주장했다.

황의 가족 자금 360억 달러를 운용하던 아케고스가 2021년 갑작스럽게 도산하면서 황의 자산 대부분이 사라졌고 그에게 대출한 은행들도 손실을 입었다.

아케고스 도산이 주식 시장에 미친 영향은 크지 않았으나 크레디 쉬세 은행이 55억 달러의 손실을 입었으며 크레디 쉬세 은행을 합병한 UBS와 노무라 은행,월드컵:awxza1g-s8i= 프랑스모건 스탠리 은행들도 피해를 당했다.

검찰은 재판에서 황과 핼리건이 황이 큰 부자인 것처럼 보이도록 하려고 “15억 달러 규모의 자산을 360억 달러 자산으로 부풀렸다”고 강조했다.

황 변호인단은 황이 보유 주식을 매도하지 않았다면서 검찰이 위험이 큰 공격적 투자를 범죄시하고 있다고 반박하고 항고의사를 밝혔다.

이 사건은 은행들이 높은 수수료를 바라고 거액을 대출해줬음이 드러난 화이트칼라 범죄 사례다.
