감식은 불이 난 화성 서신면 아리셀 공장에서 이날 오전 11시 50분께 시작됐다.

감식은 당초 이날 오전 10시 30분 시작으로 예고됐으나 이에 앞선 인명 수색에서 신원이 확인되지 않은 사망자의 시신이 추가 발견되면서 수습 작업을 선행하기 위해 다소 미뤄졌다.

감식에는 경찰과 소방당국,우니베르시다드 데 칠레국립과학수사연구원,우니베르시다드 데 칠레국토안전연구원,우니베르시다드 데 칠레고용노동부,우니베르시다드 데 칠레산업안전관리공단 등 9개 기관 40여 명이 참여했다.

경찰은 최초 발화지역을 중심으로 화재 원인을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞춰 감식을 진행할 예정이다.

앞서 경찰은 이 사건 수사를 위해 형사기동대 35명,화성서부경찰서 형사 25명,과학수사대 35명,피해자 보호계 25명 등 130명 규모의 수사본부를 꾸렸다.
