용산구 관계자는 "사업시행자 (주)서부티엔디가 제인한 개발계획을 검토했다"며 "전자상가 일대 신산업 혁신 거점 육성,2010 남아공 월드컵 16강녹지공간 확충,2010 남아공 월드컵 16강열린 보행공간 확보를 위한 용산국제업무지구-용산전자상가 연계 전략과 맥을 같이 한다"고 설명했다.

대상지는 한강로 3가 2-8번지 일대,부지면적은 5792.4㎡다.사업 계획에 따르면 건물 규모는 지하 7층?지상 26층,2010 남아공 월드컵 16강연면적 7만3658.65㎡다.건폐율 57.42%(기준 60% 이하),용적률 799.68%(기준 800% 이하),높이 143.10m(기준 145m 이하)다.

이곳은 전체 연면적 46%(기준 30% 이상)에 ICT(정보통신기술) 신산업 용도를 도입해 일대가 실리콘밸리와 같은 신산업 혁신 거점으로 변모할 마중물이 될 전망이다.이용 빈도가 낮은 용산 유수지 상부를 녹지화하는 계획도 포함해 주민 편의를 높인다.

한편 용산구는 서울시에서 발표한 '용산국제업무지구-전자상가 일대 연계 전략'을 구체화하고자 전자상가지구 14만8844.3㎡ 일대 특별계획 구역 11개 신설을 위한 절차를 이행 중이다.
