오늘(24일) 화재가 난 경기 화성시 서신면 일차전지 제조업체 아리셀 공장은 일반철골 구조의 11개 건물로 이뤄졌습니다.

공장 건물은 전곡해양산단 북동쪽 5천915㎡ 부지 내에 따닥따닥 붙어 있습니다.

11개 동 가운데 2,4,5,6,유벤투스 스쿼드7동 건물은 2017년 10월에 건축됐고,유벤투스 스쿼드불이 난 3동을 포함해 1,8,9,유벤투스 스쿼드10동은 2018년 4월에 건립됐습니다.

11동 일부(기계실)는 2020년 7월 증축됐습니다.

건축면적은 3천299㎡,유벤투스 스쿼드연면적은 5천530㎡에 달합니다.

이 공장에서는 주로 일차전지인 리튬 배터리를 제조하고 보관해 온 것으로 조사됐습니다.

화재 당시에도 3동 2층 안에는 배터리 3만 5천 개가 보관돼 있던 것으로 전해졌습니다.

전곡해양산단 입주기업협회 관계자는 "아리셀이 협회 소속사가 아니어서 잘 알지 못한다"며 "다만 한 8년여 전에 입주한 중견 기업이란 얘기만 들었다"고 말했습니다.

아리셀이 유해화학물질 취업 업체이다 보니 공장 운영 허가나 정기 안전 점검 권한은 환경부 산하 한강유역환경청에 있습니다.

화성시는 최근 있었던 안전 점검 내역을 한강유역청 측에 요청해 놓은 상태입니다.

오늘 화재는 오전 10시 30분쯤 아리셀 공장 내 2층짜리 건물인 3동 2층에서 리튬 배터리 1개에 불이 붙으면서 급속도로 확산해 발생했습니다.

당시 3동에서 일한 근무자는 총 67명으로,유벤투스 스쿼드화재 당시 1층에서 15명이,유벤투스 스쿼드2층에서 52명이 각각 있었던 것으로 파악됐습니다.
