엔씨소프트가 난투형 대전 액션 신작 '배틀크러쉬'를 27일 얼리액세스로 글로벌 100여개국에 선보인다.기존 주력인 다중접속역할수행게임(MMORPG)에서 벗어나 새로운 장르에 도전하는 엔씨소프트의 변화와 체질개선 노력을 엿볼 수 있는 작품이다.모바일뿐 아니라 PC와 닌텐도 스위치 등 멀티 플랫폼 크로스 플레이 지원을 통해 콘솔 게임 시장으로의 서비스 영역 확대도 꾀한다.

배틀크러쉬는 시간이 지날수록 점점 좁혀지는 지형이 특징이다.다가오는 적 사이에서 끝까지 살아남아 최후의 1인이 되면 승리한다.누구나 쉽게 플레이할 수 있는 간결한 조작과 지형지물을 활용한 전략적 전투 액션을 구현했다.

신화 속 인물을 모티브로 제작한 캐릭터 15종 또한 매력 요소다.각 캐릭터는 고유 액션 스킬을 보유해 전략적 활용이 가능하다.게임 플레이 및 배틀 패스를 통해 얻는 재화로 캐릭터를 꾸밀 수 있다.게임 핵심 수익모델(BM) 또한 배틀패스를 중심으로 구성하고 게임 내 유료 아이템이 캐릭터 능력치에 미치는 영향을 배제했다.

얼리 액세스 버전에서는 첫 번째 시즌 '대난투 시대'가 열린다.이용자는 30명이 참여해 최후의 승자를 가리는 '배틀로얄',마스터 포커한 이용자가 캐릭터 3종을 선택해 참여하는 '난투',마스터 포커1대1로 진행되는 '듀얼' 등 3가지 게임 모드를 즐길 수 있다.배틀로얄과 난투 모드는 팀전과 개인전으로 구분된다.팀전에서 배틀로얄은 3인 1조,마스터 포커난투 모드는 2인 1조로 구성된다.

국내 MMORPG 시장을 대표하는 리니지 시리즈로 성장을 거듭해온 엔씨소프트는 최근 기존작 매출 하락과 신작 부진으로 실적이 악화됐다.이에 대대적인 경영쇄신과 함께 장르·플랫폼 다각화를 통한 체질 개선 작업을 진행 중이다.

배틀크러쉬에 이어 하반기에는 블레이드&소울 지식재산(IP)을 기반으로 한 수집형 역할수행게임(RPG) '호연(프로젝트 BSS)' 출시도 예고했다.실시간 전략 시뮬레이션 '택탄'과 오픈월드 슈팅 게임 'LLL' 등도 신작 라인업에 이름을 올리며 장르·플랫폼 다변화를 추진 중이다.
