박주민 "수사미진시 특검수용 약속 지켜라"

경찰 수사심의위원회가 해병대 채상병 사망 사건과 관련해 임성근 전 사단장과 하급 간부 2명 등 3명에 대해 불송치 의견을 내린 것으로 알려졌다.

6일 경찰에 따르면 경북경찰청 수사심의위원회는 전날 경찰이 수사한 채상병 사망 사건을 논의한 결과 송치 대상에서 임 전 사단장을 제외하기로 한 것으로 전해졌다.

임 전 사단장을 함께 하급 간부 2명 역시 송치 대상에서 빠졌으며 군 관계자 6명은 송치를 해야 한다고 결론 내렸다.

심의위는 불송치 의견을 낸 3명 등 결정한 내용을 공개하지 않기로 했다.

경찰 수사사건 심의 등에 관한 규칙에 따르면,폴로 야구점퍼수사 경찰이 수사심의위원회 의견을 꼭 따르지 않아도 된다.

수사심의위원회는 위원장을 포함하여 법대 교수 5명,폴로 야구점퍼법조인 4명,폴로 야구점퍼사회 인사 2명 등 외부위원 11명이 참여한 가운데 경찰 수사 결과를 분석해 피의자들에게 적용할 혐의의 적정성 등을 논의했다.

경찰은 오는 8일 오후 경북경찰청에서 최종 수사 결과를 발표할 예정이다.

이 같은 소식이 전해지자 더불어민주당 해병대원사망사건진상규명TF 단장을 맡고 있는 박주민 국회 보건복지위원장은 윤석열 대통령에게 "수사결과가 미진할 때 특검을 수용하겠다고 한 약속을 지키라"고 촉구했다.

박 위원장은 페이스북에 올린 글에서 "지난번 특검법 거부권 행사 당시,폴로 야구점퍼분명 수사기관 수사결과가 미진하면 먼저 특검을 요구하겠다 하셨다"면서 "임성근 사단장이 불송치라면 이것은 확실한 수사미진"이라고 주장했다.

박 위원장은 "국민을 상대로 한 약속을 지키시라"고 요구했다.
