“농담성 발언,아이콘 블록 체인진중치 못한 처신” 사과

[헤럴드경제=김유진 기자] 당내 경선을 앞두고 여론조사에서 거짓 응답을 유도한 혐의를 받는 더불어민주당 정동영(전주병) 의원이 검찰에 송치됐다.

전주덕진경찰서는 지난 8일 공직선거법 위반 혐의로 정 의원을 검찰에 송치한 것으로 12일 알려졌다.

정 의원은 지난해 12월 한 언론사의 여론조사를 앞두고 응답자들에게 나이불문 20대 역할을 해달라고 유도한 혐의를 받고 있다.

당시 정 의원은‘20대들은 죽으라고 (여론조사) 전화를 안 받는다.받아도 여론조사라고 하면 끊어버린다.여러분이 20대를 좀 해주십사’라고 말한 혐의로 경찰에 고발됐다.

공직선거법 108조에 따르면 당내경선을 위한 여론조사의 결과에 영향을 미치게 하기 위해 다수의 선거구민을 대상으로 성별·연령 등을 거짓으로 응답하도록 지시·권유·유도하는 행위는 불법이다.

해당 발언이 도마에 오르자 정 의원은 지난 3월 기자회견을 열고 농담성 발언이었는데,아이콘 블록 체인진중치 못한 처신이었음을 인정한다” 사과한 바 있다.

검찰은 선거 범죄의 공소 시효가 선거일 이후 6개월인 점을 고려해 경찰 수사 결과를 토대로 신속하게 기소 여부를 정할 방침이다.
