KT가 하반기 조직 개편에 나섰다.그룹의 안전보건 관리와 컨트롤 타워 역할을 강화하는 방향으로 단행한 소폭의 개편이다.미래 먹거리로 밀고 있는 인공지능(AI) 사업 부문에는 엔씨소프트 출신 인사를 영입했다.

1일 통신업계에 따르면 KT는 이날 일부 조직 개편과 임원 인사를 시행했다.

먼저 김영섭 대표이사 직속으로 안전보건총괄 부문을 사내독립조직으로 신설했다.이 조직의 총괄은 임현규 경영지원부문장(부사장)이 겸직한다.임 부사장은 기존에도 안전보건 업무를 담당해왔다.다만 최근 중대재해 예방을 비롯해 안전보건이 사회적 화두가 되면서 최고경영자(CEO) 직속으로 조직 자체를 새로 만든 것으로 풀이된다.

브랜드전략실은 기존 조직이 실급으로 격상·확대됐다.브랜디 아이덴티티(Brand Identity·BI)와 코퍼레이트 아이덴티티(Corporate Identity·CI) 체계를 정리하고 그룹 시너지를 강화하기 위함이다.브랜드전략실장은 윤태식 브랜드커뮤니케이션 담당(상무)이 맡는다.기존 업무에 스포츠 마케팅 등을 추가한다.

KT는 더불어 AI·빅데이터 거버넌스 수립과 미래 핵심기술 개발을 담당하는 기존 AI 담당 조직 AI2XLab 산하 'AI코어 기술담당'에 엔씨소프트 AI테크센터장이던 신동훈 상무를 영입했다.신 상무는 1976년생으로 연세대 컴퓨터과학과에서 학·석·박사를 모두 취득한 인물이다.

KT 측은 "급변하는 사업 환경과 기술 변화에 신속하게 대응하고,슬롯 머신 하는 법조직의 경쟁력 강화 차원에서 회사의 전략 방향에 맞춰 일부 소폭의 조직 개편과 임원 인사를 했다"고 설명했다.
