(서울=연합뉴스) 김다혜 기자 = 오동운 고위공직자범죄수사처장은 공수처 차장에 이재승 변호사(50·사법연수원 30기)를 임명해달라고 윤석열 대통령에게 제청했다고 10일 밝혔다.

오 처장은 "수사 능력과 조직 운영 능력을 동시에 갖춘 분을 모시고자 다양한 의견을 듣고 숙고한 끝에 이재승 변호사를 차기 공수처 차장의 적임자로 결정하게 됐다"고 밝혔다.

공수처 차장은 처장을 보좌하며 부득이한 사유로 처장이 직무를 수행할 수 없을 때 처장 직무를 대행한다.

처장의 제청으로 대통령이 임명하며 임기는 3년이다.

이 내정자는 2001년 군법무관으로 입직한 뒤 2004년부터 2020년까지 서울중앙지검,월드컵 피보나치 수열부산지검 등에서 검사로 일한 '형사통'이다.

대전지검 서산지청 부장검사,월드컵 피보나치 수열대검찰청 사이버수사과장,대구지검 형사3부장 등을 역임했다.

서울서부지검 형사3부장 재직 당시에는 시민단체가 유시민 전 노무현재단 이사장을 정경심 동양대 교수 등에 관한 허위사실 유포 혐의로 고발한 사건을 수사했다.

2020년 8월 후속 인사에서 수원고검 검사로 좌천되자 사직한 뒤 법무법인 지평에서 형사 전문 변호사로 근무해왔다.

공수처는 이 내정자에 대해 "형사 사건에 대한 전문성이 탁월하고 법조인으로서 수사에 대한 이해도도 높다"고 설명했다.

판사 출신인 오 처장은 수사 경험이 부족하다는 지적 등을 고려해 탁월한 수사력을 가진 차장을 구하겠다는 뜻을 밝혀왔다.

전임인 김진욱 전 공수처장과 여운국 전 차장은 모두 판사 출신이었다.
