ITU-R SG5 의장·연구반 부의장 등 8명 선출…역대 최다 수임과학기술정보통신부 국립전파연구원(전파연)은 스위스 제네바에서 열린 국제전기통신연합 전파통신부문(ITU-R) 전파관리 연구반(SG1) 국제회의에서 정용준 한국정보통신기술협회 단장이 부의장으로 선출됨에 따라 ITU 전파통신부문에 역대 최다 의장단이 진출했다고 24일 밝혔다.

우리나라는 ITU 활동 이래 최초로 의장을 포함한 ITU-R 부문 8개 연구반 모두에서 의장단을 확보했다.국내 산·학·연·관 전문가들이 협력해 ITU-R 모든 연구반에서 주도적으로 국제표준화 활동을 추진한 결과라는 게 정부 측 설명이다.

선출된 각 연구반 의장단은 세계전파통신회의(WRC-27)까지 이어지는 연구회기동안 연구반 핵심과제를 주도적으로 추진한다.주요 논의 의제로는 6G 국제표준인 IMT-2030 표준화 및 주파수 발굴,이웃집 토토로 피아노 악보스펙트럼 가용성 평가 및 예측 연구,이웃집 토토로 피아노 악보100㎓ 이상 대역 전파전파 연구 등이 있다.

김희원 국립전파연구원 원장 직무대리는 "전파통신 분야 우리나라 표준 전문가들이 국제무대에서 역대 최다 의장단 진출 성과를 이루게 되어 매우 고무적"이라면서 "앞으로도 의장단을 비롯한 ITU 표준 전문가들이 국제표준화 무대에서 주도적 활동을 추진할 수 있도록 적극 노력할 것"이라고 말했다.

한편,이웃집 토토로 피아노 악보전파연은 ITU 국제표준화 활동에 체계적으로 대응하기 위해 한국ITU연구위원회를 설치·운영하고 있다.국내 우수한 ICT 기술이 국제표준으로 채택돼 국내 기업의 글로벌 진출을 선도할 수 있도록 다양한 표준 활동을 지원하고 있다.
