유전체 분석 자동화 시스템‘GATK’카카오클라우드 기반으로 제공카카오엔터프라이즈는 고려대학교 의과대학(고대의대)과 유전체 분석 연구 및 클라우드 기반 분석 자동화 시스템 지원을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 10일 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 고대의대에서 유전체 분석 연구를 위해 사용 중인‘GATK(유전체 분석 툴킷,다이소 야구글러브Genome Analysis Tool Kit)’를 카카오클라우드 기반으로 구축 완료 후 이를 계기로 고대의대의 다양한 연구 환경에 적합한 클라우드를 지원하고자 체결됐다.

의료 빅데이터의 핵심 자원으로 주목받고 있는 유전체(Genome) 데이터는 방대한 양에 더해 염기 서열 분석,다이소 야구글러브변이 식별 등 다양한 연구 계산을 필요로 한다.

GATK는 이런 복잡한 유전체 데이터를 분석하기 위한 분석 자동화 시스템이다.분산 및 병렬 연산을 지원해 오픈소스로써 널리 사용되고 있다.카카오엔터프라이즈는 GATK가 충분한 성능을 발휘할 수 있도록 분산・병렬 연산에 적합한 Hadoop Eco 서비스 기반으로 최적의 아키텍처를 구현했다.

협약을 통해 카카오엔터프라이즈는 △카카오클라우드 기반 유전체 연구・분석 환경 구성 △카카오클라우드로의 서비스(솔루션) 구축 지원 △카카오클라우드 활용 및 기술자 양성 교육 등을 제공한다.

고대의대는 △카카오클라우드의 핵심 파트너로서 유전체 분석 시장 협력 △유전체 분석 시장의 연구・분석 서비스(솔루션) 발굴 △카카오클라우드로의 전환 등을 추진한다.
