▲ 81도까지 치솟은 화염산 여의봉 온도계

중국에서 가장 더운 지역으로 꼽히는 신장(新疆)위구르자치구 투루판(吐魯番)의 지표면 온도가 무려 섭씨 81도까지 치솟았다고 중국 매체들이 보도했습니다.

26일 관영 중국중앙(CC)TV 등에 따르면 투루판 분지에 속한 화염산 풍경구의 지표면 온도는 지난 23일 오후 3시35분(현지시간) 기준으로 올해 들어 가장 높은 섭씨 81도로 측정됐습니다.

당시 실외 기온도 40도를 넘어섰다고 중국 매체들은 전했습니다.

화염산 풍경구의 한 직원은 "바람이 불지 않고 하늘에 구름이 없으면 이 지역 온도는 크게 치솟는다"면서 "통상 8월에나 볼 수 있는 고온이 올해는 매우 이르게 6월부터 나타나고 있다"고 말했습니다.

화염산은 붉은 사암으로 이뤄져 햇빛을 받으면 마치 불타는듯한 모양이어서 이런 이름이 붙었습니다.

중국 고전소설 '서유기'에서 화염산 불길 때문에 고초를 겪던 삼장법사 일행이 철선공주의 파초선으로 불을 끈 손오공 덕분에 위기를 모면했다는 이야기로 유명한 곳이기도 합니다.

이곳에는 거대한 여의봉을 연상케 하는 온도계가 설치돼 지표면 온도를 시시각각 보여주고 있습니다.

이곳은 매년 여름이면 '이열치열'을 즐기기 위한 관광객들이 몰려 북새통을 이룹니다.

올해 들어 중국은 지구온난화가 심화하면서 북부 지역의 경우 때 이른 고온으로 몸살을 앓고 있습니다.

지난 12일에는 허베이성 중남부와 산둥성,국내 배당주허난성,국내 배당주산시성 남부,국내 배당주안후이성 북부 등의 지표 기온이 60도를 웃돌았고 일부 지역 지표 온도는 70도를 넘기도 했습니다.

중국 기상국은 26일 예보를 통해 "중국 북부는 당분간 광범위하고 지속적인 고온 현상이 나타날 것"이라며 신장,국내 배당주산시(陝西)성 관중지방,국내 배당주화베이 평원 등지에서는 폭염이 이어질 것이라고 예상했습니다.

반면 중국 남부지역은 폭우가 이어지면서 지난주 광둥성에서만 47명이 목숨을 잃는 등 극심한 홍수 피해를 겪고 있습니다.
