(서울=연합뉴스) 박형빈 기자 = 서울남부지검 형사4부(남수연 부장검사)는 야권 유력 정치인 A씨를 장기간 협박해 금품을 뜯어내려 한 혐의(공갈미수)로 70대 남성 B씨를 구속기소했다고 1일 밝혔다.

검찰에 따르면 B씨는 약 10년 전 A씨를 위해 수천만원을 썼다고 일방적으로 주장하며 변제를 요구했으나 거절당하자 지난해 8월부터 올해 5월까지 약 30회에 걸쳐 폭력을 행사하거나 명예를 실추하는 내용의 문자메시지를 전송해 협박한 혐의를 받는다.

검찰은 B씨가 과거에도 같은 내용으로 A씨를 협박해 수사받은 전력이 있어 재범의 위험성이 높다고 판단해 구속 상태로 재판에 넘겼다.

검찰 관계자는 "범죄에 상응하는 처벌이 이뤄지도록 공소 유지에 최선을 다하고 국민의 신체와 재산을 위협하는 강력범죄에 대해 엄정하게 대응하겠다"고 말했다.
