일본군 위안부 기림의 날 행사

(광주=연합뉴스) 천정인 기자 = 일본군 위안부 피해자 기림의 날인 14일 광주 곳곳에서 추모 행사가 열렸다.

광주 동구는 이날 오전 동구 금남로 공원 평화의 소녀상 앞에서 임택 동구청장 등을 비롯한 내외빈 30여명이 참석한 가운데 '기림의 날' 행사를 개최했다.

광주·전남 지역 위안부 피해자인 고(故) 고정엽 할머니 고향인 전남 해남 지역 초·중학생 12명이 기림 노래 공연을 하고 참석자들이 평화의 종이비행기를 날리며 피해자들을 위로하거나 추모했다.

북구도 북구청 광장에 마련된 소녀상 앞에서 소녀상 건립 7주년 기념행사를 열고 평화를 염원하는 바람과 다짐을 공유하거나 소녀상의 이야기를 극으로 만든 공연과 퍼포먼스가 펼쳐졌다.

광산구 광산문화회관에서 열린 기념행사에서는 퓨전 국악 공연과 함께 부대행사로 종이 방향제 만들기와 소녀상 입간판 포토존 등이 운영됐다.

서구청 광장 평화의 소녀상 앞에서도 주민들이 자유롭게 참여할 수 있는 헌화 장소를 마련해두고 구청장과 내외빈이 헌화와 묵념하는 추모의 시간을 갖기도 했다.

남구는 이날 오후 5시부터 양림동 평화의 소녀상 일대에서 남구 인권 평화 축제를 연다.

기념식과 함께 문화 공연과 자유 발언을 할 수 있는 시간을 마련했다.

위안부 피해자 기림의 날은 고(故) 김학순 할머니가 1991년 8월 14일 기자회견을 통해 일본군 위안부 피해 사실을 처음으로 공개 증언해 국제사회에 알린 것을 계기로 2017년 국가기념일로 지정됐다.

현재 위안부 피해 생존자는 전국 9명이며 광주·전남에 거주하는 피해 생존자는 없다.
