(이스탄불=연합뉴스) 김동호 특파원 = 튀르키예 정부가 미국의 빅테크 기업 구글에 4억8천200만리라(약 204억4천만원)의 과징금을 부과했다.

10일(현지시간) 국영 TRT하베르 방송에 따르면 튀르키예 경쟁위원회는 구글이 튀르키예 내에서 지역·숙박 검색 서비스를 부당하게 운영했다고 보고 이같이 결정했다.

경쟁위는 일반 검색 서비스 시장에서 지배적 위치에 있는 구글이 검색창에서 숙박 가격비교와 관련한 구글 자체 검색결과를 경쟁사보다 유리하게 노출함으로써 경쟁을 방해했다고 봤다.

앞서 구글에 시정조치를 요구했으나 일부 개선이 지연된 부분에 대해 과징금을 책정했다고 설명했다.

튀르키예 당국은 2021년부터 주요 사회관계망서비스(SNS) 업체가 튀르키예에 대표 사무실을 운영하도록 의무화하는 등 업계 규제를 강화해오고 있다.

지난달에는 미국 기업 메타가 운영하는 페이스북과 인스타그램,카지노 손은서 배드신와츠앱이 사용자 개인정보를 통합해 운영하는 탓에 경쟁업체 활동이 저해됐다며 과징금 8억9천800만리라(380억원)을 부과했다.
