기시다 후미오 일본 총리가 내달 하순께 치러지는 집권 자민당 총재 선거에 불출마할 의향을 보였다고 교도통신 등이 14일 정권 간부 발언을 인용해 보도했다.

기시다 총리는 불출마 이유에 대해 "비자금 문제를 누군가가 책임지지 않으면 안 된다"는 생각을 주위에 나타냈다고 교도통신은 전했다.

기시다 총리는 그동안 총재 선거 출마 여부에 대해 명확한 입장을 내놓지 않았지만 저조한 내각 지지율에 결국 불출마로 가닥을 잡은 것으로 보인다.기시다 총리는 지난해 연말 자민당 '비자금 스캔들'이 불거진 이후 내각 지지율이 10~20%대에 머물자 당 안팎에서 퇴진 압박을 받아왔다.

기시다 총리가 이날 총리관저에서 기자회견을 열어 총재 선거 불출마 의사를 직접 밝힐 것이라는 관측이 현지 언론에서 나오고 있다.

차기 자민당 총재 선거에는 이시바 시게루 전 자민당 간사장,마인츠 축구고노 다로 디지털상,마인츠 축구다카이치 사나에 경제안보담당상 등이 출마를 저울질하고 있는 것으로 알려졌다.내각제인 일본에서는 다수당 대표가 총리가 되며 현재 제1당은 자민당이다.
