(제네바=연합뉴스) 안희 특파원 = 이스라엘군이 팔레스타인 가자지구 내 인도주의 구역을 공습한 데 대해 유엔이 강력한 비판 메시지를 내놨다.

안토니우 구테흐스 유엔 사무총장은 14일(현지시간) 성명을 통해 "가자지구 알마와시 지역을 강타한 공습으로 빚어진 인명 피해에 충격과 슬픔을 느낀다"고 밝혔다.

그는 "공습 지역은 난민을 보호하기 위해 설정한 인도주의 구역으로 주민이 밀집해 있던 곳"이라며 "여성과 어린이를 포함해 민간인 사망이 다수 나온 것을 강력히 규탄한다"고 말했다.

이어 "이번 공습은 가자지구 어디도 안전하지 않다는 것을 보여주며 즉각적인 인도적 휴전이 있어야 한다.모든 인질은 즉시 무조건 석방돼야 할 것"이라고 강조했다.

이스라엘군은 전날 가자지구 남부 도시 칸유니스의 서쪽 해안인 알마와시 등지에 대형 폭탄 '벙커버스터' 등을 투하했다.대피령에 따라 피란민이 몰리는 인도주의 구역에 폭탄이 떨어지는 바람에 90여명이 숨지고 300여명이 다쳤다.

이스라엘은 지난해 10월7일 하마스의 이스라엘 기습을 지휘한 알카삼 여단 사령관 무함마드 데이프와 칸유니스 여단 사령관 라파 살라메를 겨냥한 것이라고 주장했다.

이스라엘군은 이날 새벽에도 가자시티에 있는 주택 4채를 최소 4차례 공습해 최소 17명이 숨지고 50여명이 다쳤다고 로이터통신 등이 보도했다.
