[창녕=뉴시스] 안지율 기자 = 경남 창녕군은 지난 12일 한국쌀전업농 창녕군연합회와 함께 고암면 계상리에서 연합회 임원진·회원 50여명이 참석한 가운데 올해 진옥벼 조기재배 첫 수확 행사를 마쳤다고 13일 밝혔다.

조기재배는 벼의 조생종 품종을 이른 봄에 육묘해 벼의 수확 시기를 앞당기는 재배법이다.태풍 등과 같은 기상재해를 최소화하는 등 재배 안정성 향상으로 논의 이모작 활용도 증가와 농가소득 증대에 기여하고 있다.

군내 50농가,월드컵 참가 선수78ha(헥타아르) 규모의 조기재배 계약 농가는 전용 육묘장에서 생산된 육묘를 사용해 4월에 모내기를 완료했다.이번에 첫 수확을 실시했다.

이번 첫 수확을 시작으로 약 10일 동안 조기재배 수확이 이어진다.수확된 쌀은 롯데유통 계열사를 통해 전국 800여개 매장에 납품된다.

성낙인 창녕군수는 "첫 모내기에 이어 벼 조기재배 첫 수확 행사를 개최하게 된 것을 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다"며 "창녕의 우수한 고품질 쌀 조기 출하로 햅쌀 시장을 선점하고 농가소득 증대로 이어지기를 기대한다"고 말했다.
