LG전자 유튜브에서 구독자 수에 따른 기부 공약을 했던 한 직원이 월 1천만원 상당을 기부할 처지에 놓이자 회사가 지원을 검토하기로 했다.

10일 업계에 따르면 유튜브 채널 'MZ전자'를 운영하는 LG전자 소속 최정현 선임은 지난 4일 "구독자 1명당 1천원을 기부하겠다"며 사내 기부 키오스크를 사용해 기부를 하는 영상을 업로드했다.

최 선임은 영상과 함께 "아내와 상의하지 않고 영상을 올린다.많이 누르면 좋겠고,2018년 10월 27일 야구 경기일정후기 인증을 올리겠다"고 구독자들에게 약속했다.

영상을 올릴 당시 38명에 불과했던 채널 구독자는 10일 낮 12시 기준 1만1천 명을 돌파했다.

공약을 실천하려면 1천만원 이상을 사비로 기부해야 하는 것이다.

구독자가 폭발적으로 증가하자 최 선임은 지난 8일 유튜브 커뮤니티에 "일이 이렇게 커질 줄 몰랐다"며 "제 월급에서 너무 멀어지면 아무래도 혼자 감당하기 어려울 것 같다"고 호소했다.

LG전자는 최 선임이 선의로 시작한 기부가 부담이 되지 않도록 지원 방안을 검토하는 것으로 알려졌다.
