카카오가 미국 주간지 타임과 데이터 기업 스태티스타가 발표한 '2024 세계 최고의 지속가능 선도기업'에 선정됐다고 28일 밝혔다.

올해 처음 공개된 세계 최고의 지속가능 선도기업에는 평가 대상 5000개 이상의 기업 중 상위 500개 기업이 이름을 올렸다.카카오는 272위를 기록했다.국내에서는 15개의 기업이 포함됐는데 'IT,서울경마책Tech & Software' 분야에서는 카카오가 유일했다.

타임지는 지속가능성과 관련된 20개 이상의 주요 성과 지표와 기업에서 공개하는 데이터 등을 바탕으로 지속가능성을 평가했다.

특히 카카오는 ESG(환경·사회·지배구조) 분야별 다양한 활동을 이어오고 있다.오피스 전력을 재생에너지로 조달하고,서울경마책친환경 데이터센터를 건립하는 등 기후 위기 대응하고 있다.또 이용자들에게 안정적인 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 '카카오 안정성 보고서'를 발간하고 있으며,서울경마책업계 최초로 '다양성 보고서'를 발행하고 있다.

지속적으로 활동을 이어온 결과,서울경마책카카오는 S&P 글로벌이 주관하는 '기업 지속가능성 평가'에서 연속 상위 1%를 달성했다.아울러 DJSI(다우존스 지속가능경영 월드 지수)에 3년 연속으로 편입됐다.기후변화에 적극적으로 대응해 온 노력을 바탕으로 국제 환경기구 '탄소정보공개프로젝트(CDP)'가 발표하는 탄소 정보공개 관련 환경평가에서 최고 등급인 A를 획득했다.
