검찰이 이른바 '청담동 술자리 의혹'을 제기했던 김의겸 전 더불어민주당 의원을 피의자 신분으로 소환했습니다.

서울중앙지검 형사7부(권성희 부장검사)는 오늘(4일) 오전부터 정보통신망법상 명예훼손 혐의를 받는 김 전 의원을 조사 중입니다.

김 전 의원은 오늘 검찰 조사에 앞서 취재진과 만나 "현직 법무부 장관이 이의 신청을 해서 검찰로 사건을 넘긴 것 자체가 권한남용"이라고 말했습니다.

그러면서 "서초경찰서가 1년 동안 조사해서 지난해 말 무혐의로 불송치 결정을 내렸는데 한동훈 당시 법무부 장관이 이의 신청을 해서 검찰로 (사건이) 넘어왔다"며 "경찰이 내린 결정을 기소해 달라고 자신이 지휘 감독하는 검찰에 넘긴 것"이라고 비판했습니다.

청담동 술자리 의혹은 윤석열 대통령과 당시 법무부 장관이었던 한동훈 국민의힘 당대표 후보가 김앤장 법률사무소 변호사들과 청담동에서 심야 술자리를 가졌다는 내용입니다.

김 전 의원이 2022년 10월 국회 국정감사에서 의혹을 제기한 뒤 유튜브 매체 '시민언론 더탐사'가 보도를 이어갔습니다.

첼리스트 A 씨가 해당 술집에 머무르며 노래했다고 남자친구에게 말한 통화 녹음이 이런 주장의 근거였으나 A 씨는 늦은 것에 대한 핑계로 남자친구에게 거짓말한 것이라고 해명했습니다.

한 후보는 의혹을 부인하며 김 전 의원과 더탐사 등을 정보통신망법상 명예훼손 혐의로 고소하고 이들을 상대로 10억 원의 손해배상을 청구하는 소송도 제기했습니다.

서울 서초경찰서는 지난해 10월 더탐사 강진구 전 대표를 검찰에 송치하고 김 전 의원은 국회의원 면책특권에 근거해 공소권 없음으로 불송치했으나,슈퍼 엑스 슬롯고소인 측 이의신청으로 김 전 의원 사건 역시 11월 검찰에 송치됐습니다.

검찰은 지난 5월 강 전 대표를 정보통신망법상 명예훼손,슈퍼 엑스 슬롯강요미수,슈퍼 엑스 슬롯주거 침입 등 혐의로 소환해 조사했습니다.
