4년여 타스만 개발 뒷이야기…1만8천회 시험 거쳐 탄생

(서울=연합뉴스) 이승연 기자 = 기아는 브랜드 최초의 정통 픽업트럭 '더 기아 타스만'의 개발 과정을 담은 영상 시리즈 '원 모어 라운드'(One more round)의 티저를 공개했다고 16일 밝혔다.

원 모어 라운드는 누적 1만8천회에 달하는 가혹한 시험을 거쳐 탄생한 타스만의 개발 뒷이야기를 담았다.'매일 더 높은 기준을 넘어서기 위해 도전한다'는 타스만의 모험 정신을 보여준다.

타스만은 국내를 비롯해 미국,스웨덴,호주,중동 등 지역에서 시험이 이뤄졌으며,4년이 넘는 개발 기간이 소요됐다.

오프로드 특화 성능 시험,내구성 시험,도박의 폐해R&H(주행 및 핸들링) 시험,도박의 폐해트레일링 안정성 시험,도박의 폐해도하 시험 등 1천777종의 시험을 거쳤다.

기아는 원 모어 라운드를 오프로드 시험편,도하 시험편,도박의 폐해트랙 시험편,도박의 폐해내구성 향상 및 지역별 최적화를 위한 호주 실도로 시험편,개발 연구원 인터뷰편 등으로 구성해 오는 22일부터 10월까지 순차적으로 공개할 예정이다.

타스만은 기아가 독자 기술로 개발한 첫 픽업트럭 모델이다.지난달 열린 부산모빌리티쇼에서 타스만 전용 위장막 모델의 실물이 공개된 바 있다.

양희원 현대차·기아 R&D본부 사장은 "타스만은 기아가 아주 오랫동안 준비해 온 차"라며 "최초라는 타이틀에 걸맞게 연구소의 모든 부문에서 최선을 다해 준비한 만큼 만족스러운 성능을 보여줄 것"이라고 말했다.

타스만은 올해 하반기 월드 프리미어 행사를 통해 공개되며,내년 상반기 중 국내를 시작으로 호주,아프리카,도박의 폐해중동 시장에 순차적으로 출시될 예정이다.
