최근 여러 온라인 커뮤니티와 사회관계망서비스(SNS)에는 '파리 올림픽 선수촌 근황'이라는 제목으로 사진 여러 장이 올라왔다.올라온 사진을 보면,야구 아시안게임선수들이 생활할 방 내부에는 에어컨 없이 선풍기 한 대만 덩그러니 놓여있다.2020년 도쿄 올림픽 당시 처음으로 시도됐던 골판지 침대의 모습도 보인다.

숙소 내에 에어컨을 두지 않은 것은 파리 올림픽 조직 위원회가 친환경 올림픽을 구현하고자 하기 때문이다.하지만 파리 올림픽은 7월 26일부터 8월 11일까지 한여름에 진행되며 올림픽 출전 선수의 건강에 대한 우려가 잇따르고 있다.특히 2020년 도쿄올림픽 당시에는 출전 선수들이 열사병에 걸리는 등 건강 문제가 있었기에 건강과 관련된 부분에 있어서 좀 더 선수들을 배려해야 한다는 비판의 목소리도 높아지고 있다.

이같은 소식에 한국 선수단 측은 빠르게 무더위 대비책을 마련했다고도 밝혔다.지난 12일 대한체육회는 "친환경 특수 냉매제(PCM)를 활용한 쿨링 재킷과 쿨링 시트를 제작해 파리로 떠나는 국가대표 선수들에게 나눠줄 예정이다"라고 밝혔다.

한편 다음 달 26일에 개최되는 2024 파리올림픽은 206개국 1만500명이 참석하며,32개 종목과 329개의 경기로 진행된다.파리 올림픽 조직 위원회는 탄소발자국을 최소화하는 환경친화적 올림픽을 주도하겠다고 밝혔고,이에 기존 시설물과 활용이 가능한 문화유산을 최대한 이용하여 올림픽을 치를 전망이다.
