[파이낸셜뉴스] 제주 서귀포 앞바다에서 물놀이를 하던 관광객 6명이 이안류에 휩쓸리는 사고가 발생했다.

14일 제주소방안전본부에 따르면 전날 오후 4시 56분쯤 서귀포 표선면 표선해수욕장 인근 소금막해변에서 스노클링을 하던 6명이 이안류에 휩쓸렸다는 신고가 접수됐다.

이안류란 해안에서 바다로 쪽으로 빠르게 흐르는 해류를 말한다.

20대 남성 A 씨는 심정지 상태로 119구조대에 의해 구조돼 병원으로 옮겨졌으나 결국 숨졌다.

나머지 5명은 자력으로 탈출하거니 인근 서퍼객의 도움으로 바다에서 빠져나온 것으로 파악됐다.

해경은 정확한 사고 경위를 조사하고 있다.
