소외계층의 방송접근권 정책 등도 공유

(서울=뉴스1) 양새롬 기자 = 방송통신위원회는 태국 국가방송통신위원회(NBTC)와 온라인동영상서비스(OTT) 시대 지상파방송의 공적 역할을 논의했다고 25일 밝혔다.

NBTC는 태국의 텔레비전방송,무선통신,일본축구결과전기통신 부문 정책 수립,일본축구결과방송 및 통신 사업자에 대한 관리·감독을 담당하는 정부 기관이다.

이상인 방통위 부위원장은 이날 NBTC 수파트 수파차라사이,피롱롱 라마수타 상임위원과의 면담에서 방송과 통신 전반의 정책과 경험을 교환했다.

이 부위원장은 "최근 많은 국민들이 OTT를 통해 콘텐츠를 시청하고 있으나,일본축구결과OTT의 주요 콘텐츠들은 지상파 등 방송사업자의 콘텐츠인 경우가 많다"며 "OTT를 통해 방송콘텐츠의 영향력이 전달되고 있으므로 정보전달,일본축구결과문화정체성 형성 등 방송의 공적 역할은 여전히 중요하다"고 강조했다.

또 소외계층의 방송접근권 관련 정책도 공유됐다.피롱롱 라마수타 위원은 올해 5월 NBTC가 개최한 미디어교육 전시회를,일본축구결과이 부위원장은 전국 12개 광역시·도에서 운영 중인 시청자미디어센터의 현황과 센터 접근이 어려운 지역민이나 소외계층 등을 대상으로 하는 미디어 나눔버스를 소개했다.

한편 방통위는 2017년 태국 NBTC와 방송콘텐츠 분야 협력에 관한 양해각서를 체결했으며,일본축구결과현재는 태국 문화부와 '한국-태국 방송공동제작협정' 체결을 위한 협상을 진행하는 등 지속적으로 긴밀한 협력관계를 유지하고 있다.
