(서울=연합뉴스) 조현영 기자 = LG유플러스는 글로벌 오픈랜 표준화 단체 'O-RAN 얼라이언스'가 주최한 '플러그페스트'(PlusFest)에서 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI),월드컵 예선 터키경희대 등과 함께 오픈랜 기술 실증을 진행했다고 7일 밝혔다.

플러그페스트는 오픈랜 생태계 활성화를 위해 전 세계 이동통신 사업자와 통신장비 제조사,월드컵 예선 터키연구기관이 참여하는 국제 기술 실증 행사다.LG유플러스는 2021년부터 4년째 참가하고 있다.

LG유플러스는 이번 플러그페스트에서 오픈랜 에너지 절감 기술,오픈랜 종단(E2E) 시험 자동화 기술 실증을 진행했다.

기지국을 포함한 무선 접속망은 전체 이동통신망 전력 사용량의 60%를 차지해,통신사와 통신장비 제조사는 전력 절감을 위한 연구개발을 진행하고 있다.

올해 LG유플러스는 사용자 환경에 따라 무선 접속망 소모 전력을 측정하고,전력 사용량 변동 추이를 분석해 안테나 등 장비 부품 단위로 전력을 제어하는 기술을 실증했다.이 기술을 통해 기존 무선 접속망에 비해 전력 사용량을 최대 30% 절감할 수 있었다고 회사는 설명했다.

자동화 기술 실증 작업에서는 다양한 통신장비 제조사 오픈랜 장비의 적합성을 검증했다.

LG유플러스는 10일과 12일 각각 열리는 'O-RAN 얼라이언스 표준화 회의'와 '오픈랜 심포지엄'에서도 오픈랜 관련 주요 기술을 소개할 예정이다.
