송 위원장은 이날 성명을 통해 “경제적인 상황은 정부나 지자체,알통떡강정당사자의 노력으로 극복할 수 있지만 공동체 구성원으로서의 소속감과 자존감은 구성원 상호 간의 존중과 교감이 있을 때 발현될 수 있다”며 이같이 말했다.

국내 입국 북한이탈주민은 올해 3월말 기준 3만4121명이다.지난해‘북한이탈주민 위기가구 인권상황 실태조사’에 따르면 정신적 스트레스 상황에서 도움을 요청할 사람이 있는지에 대한 질문에서 응답자 중 34%만이 있다고 답했다.이들은 경제적으로 매우 취약하고,알통떡강정부정적인 편견을 맞닥뜨리는 등 어려운 상황에 놓여 있는 것으로 분석된다.

송 위원장은 “우리 사회가 차별과 편견이 아닌 포용과 배려로 한층 더 성숙한 사회로 나아가길 바란다”며 “북한이탈주민이 우리 사회의 평범한 구성원으로서 안정적으로 정착하여 각자의 삶을 향유할 수 있도록 지속해서 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
