인하대 공동 '동반성장형' 도전
70억원 규모 지원 받을 예정

강원대가 정부의 반도체 특성화대학 지원사업에 선정됐다.

교육부와 한국산업기술진흥원은 4일 이같은 내용의 '첨단산업 특성화대학 지원사업' 선정 결과를 발표했다.

지난해 첫선을 보인 첨단산업 특성화대학 지원사업은 정부의 '반도체 관련 인재 양성 방안'에 따라 대학이 산업계 수요에 기반한 학사 인재를 양성할 수 있도록 지원하는 사업이다.올해는 반도체 분야 9곳과 이차전지 분야 3곳 등 총 12개 대학(연합)이 선정됐다.

'동반성장형'에 도전한 강원대는 인하대와 공동으로 사업을 준비했다.특성화 분야는 '칩렛 반도체'다.칩렛은 서로 다른 반도체를 연결하는 차세대 반도체 제조 기술이다.특히 AI 붐에 따른 GPU 품귀로 칩렛 기술이 최근 각광을 받고 있다.강원대와 인하대는 이번 선정으로 70억원을 지원받는다.

올해 사업에는 강원대 외에도 강릉원주대와 한림대가 도전했으나 안타깝게 고배를 마셨다.강릉원주대는 인천대와 연합했고,최고의 무료 내기 제안한림대는 광운대와 함께 사업을 준비했다.

강원대가 정부의 반도체 특성화대학 지원사업에 승선하면서 강원도가 반도체 공동연구소 유치에도 성공할 수 있을지 결과가 주목된다.교육부는 올해 추가로 2곳을 '권역별 반도체 공동연구소'로 지정할 예정인 가운데 강원을 비롯한 3개 지역을 두고 저울질 중인 상황이다.최종 결과는 이달 중순 발표될 예정이다.

강원대 관계자는 "공동연구소는 현재 3곳이 서류를 통과한 상태"라면서 "3곳 중 2곳이 최종 선정된다.반도체 사업에 강원지역의 역량이 집결 중인 만큼,최고의 무료 내기 제안연구소도 유치할 수 있도록 끝까지 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.
