예멘의 친이란 반군 후티

(이스탄불=연합뉴스) 김동호 특파원 = 예멘 반군 후티가 국제기구에서 일하는 현지인 직원 10여명을 억류했다고 AP,청주 야구경기로이터 통신이 7일(현지시간) 보도했다.

현지 당국 관계자들은 최근 유엔 산하 기관의 직원 최소 9명이 반군에 억류됐고 미국의 비영리단체 국제민주연구소(NDI) 직원 3명,청주 야구경기현지 인권단체 직원 3명,청주 야구경기세이브더칠드런 1명 등이 붙잡혔다고 전했다.

로이터는 "반군 장교들이 이들의 집과 사무실에 들이닥쳐 휴대전화와 컴퓨터를 압수해갔다"고 보도했다.

유엔과 NDI는 이들 외신의 확인 요청에 즉각 답하지 않았다.

AP는 후티가 이같은 일을 벌인 배경이 불분명하다면서도 "미국 주도 연합군의 공습과 재정적 압박으로 더 큰 어려움을 겪는 가운데 발생한 일"이라고 해설했다.

한편 예멘 반군은 전날 성명을 내고 홍해에서 작전 중인 미국 해군의 항공모함 USS 드와이트 D.아이젠하워호를 계속 군사적 목표물로 삼겠다고 경고했다.

이들은 이스라엘과 전쟁 중인 팔레스타인 무장정파 하마스를 지원한다는 명분으로 작년 11월부터 홍해를 지나는 상선들을 공격해오고 있다.

이에 미국은 다국적군을 규합해 예멘 내 반군 근거지를 공습하는 '번영의 수호자 작전'으로 대응하고 있다.지난달 30일에도 미군은 영국군과 함께 전투기와 함정을 동원해 반군 장악 지역 13개 목표물을 공격했다.
