[디지털데일리 문대찬기자] 9명의 사망자를 낸‘시청역 역주행 사고’와 관련,웨일즈 대한민국국립과학수사연구원(국과수)이 운전자 과실에 무게를 두고 있는 것으로 전해졌다.
15일 MBN 보도에 따르면,웨일즈 대한민국국과수는 최근 시청역 사고 가해 차량의 사고 기록 장치와 EDR(사고기록장치) 등을 분석한 결과를 경찰에 알렸다.
국과수는 해당 사고를 운전자 과실에 의한 것으로 판단하는 것으로 전해졌다.사고 당시 켜진 것으로 알려진 후방등에 대해선 외부 빛으로 인해 불이 들어온 것으로 보이는 난반사나 플리커 현상일 가능성이 높은 것으로 보고 있다고 알려졌다.
경찰은 이 같은 국과수 판단을 근거로‘차량 급발진’을 주장하는 60대 운전자 차모 씨에 대한 수사를 이어갈 예정이다.차 씨는 지난 1일 오후 9시께 서울 시청역 인근에서 자신의 제네시스 차량으로 역주행해 인도로 돌진,웨일즈 대한민국9명이 사망하고 7명이 부상을 당하는 참사를 냈다.
