20년 전 '밀양 여중생 집단 성폭행 사건' 쉬쉬했다며,베네수엘라 대 에콰도르지역 전체에 대한 비난이 폭주하는 중이죠.

밀양시장과 시의회,베네수엘라 대 에콰도르지역 80여 개 종교·시민단체 대표들입니다.

20년 전 발생한 여중생 성폭행 사건과 관련한 대국민 사과입니다.

"더 나은 지역사회를 만들 책임이 있음에도 나와 우리 가족,베네수엘라 대 에콰도르내 친구는 무관하다는 이유로 비극적인 사건에 대해 제대로 된 사과와 반성도 하지 못했습니다."

해당 사건이 온라인에서 재조명되면서 지역사회는 비상입니다.

시청 홈페이지엔 '성폭행범을 두둔하는 도시' 등의 항의 글이 쏟아지고 있습니다.

지역 혐오로 번지는 분위기까지 이어져 주민들은 속앓이를 하고 있습니다.

"나쁜 이미지 때문에 아무래도 밀양시민으로서는 안 좋은 마음을 갖고 있습니다."

지역경제도 직격탄을 맞았습니다.

여름철을 맞아 손님들로 붐벼야 할 펜션은 인적이 뚝 끊겼습니다.

"취소도 평소보다 조금 더 되는 상태고 예약 자체도 많이 안 들어와서 경영상에 어려움이 많습니다.식당이나 카페 사장님들도 손님들이 많이 줄었다고 합니다."

유튜버들의 가해자 신상 폭로가 계속되는 가운데 경찰에 접수된 고소·진정은 140건에 달합니다.

가해자 신상 공개 관련 수사 대상자는 53명으로,베네수엘라 대 에콰도르경찰은 이 중 11명을 수사하고 있습니다.
