세월호 참사 때 초동 조치를 제대로 하지 않은 혐의 등으로 기소됐다 무죄가 확정된 박근혜 정부 해경 지휘부가 형사보상금을 받게 됐습니다.

서울중앙지법은 김석균 전 해양경찰청장에게 구금·비용보상금으로 628만원을 지급하는 형사보상을 결정했습니다.

형사보상은 무죄 확정 피고인이 구금이나 재판으로 생긴 손해를 국가가 보상해 달라고 청구하는 제도입니다.

김수현 전 서해해양경찰청장과 유연식 전 서해해경청 상황담당관에게도 각각 600만원대 비용보상금을 지급하도록 했습니다.

이들은 세월호 참사 직후 구조에 필요한 주의 의무를 다하지 않아 445명의 사상자를 낸 혐의로 2020년 2월 재판에 넘겨졌지만 지난해 11월 대법원에서 최종 무죄가 선고됐습니다.
