SK온은 현지시간 24일 미국 라스베이거스에서 열린 세계 최대 규모의 리튬·배터리 원소재 콘퍼런스 '패스트마켓 콘퍼런스'에서 엑손모빌과 리튬 공급 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다고 26일 밝혔습니다.
이번 MOU에 따라 SK온은 엑손모빌이 아칸소주 리튬염호에서 직접리튬추출(DLE) 기술을 사용해 생산한 리튬을 최대 10만t 공급받을 수 있게 됐습니다.구체적인 공급 시기와 물량은 본계약 체결 후 확정될 예정입니다.
엑손모빌은 배터리 핵심 소재 사업 진출을 위해 지난해 초 아칸소 염호를 인수,퀀텀 카지노 열쇠같은 해 11월 리튬 채굴을 개시했습니다.
염호에는 전기차 5천만대분 배터리를 생산할 수 있는 탄산리튬환산기준(LCE) 400만 t이 매장된 것으로 추정됩니다.
