27일 충북도에 따르면 정부는 이날 제6차 국가첨단전략산업위원회를 열고 인천경기(시흥),대전(유성),점천수 바카라강원(춘천·홍천),전남(화순),점천수 바카라경북(안동·포항) 등 5곳을 바이오 분야 국가첨단전략산업 특화단지로 지정했다.

앞서 정부는 바이오 의약품과 오가노이드 재생채료제 분야로 나눠 특화단지 지정을 공모했다.

이번에 지정된 5곳은 모두 바이오 의약품 관련이다.

반면 충북과 전북 등 5곳이 신청한 오가노이드 재생치료제 분야는 특화단지를 지정하지 않았다.

위원회는 오가노이드 재생치료제 관련 산업이 상업화 이전이어서 특화단지 조성이 시기상조라는 판단을 내린 것으로 전해졌다.

지난해 12월 특화단지 지정 공고 이후부터 청주 오송을 후보지로 내세웠던 충북도는 위원회의 미지정 결정에 당혹감을 내비쳤다.

특히 오송은 식약처·질병관리청 등 6대 보건의료 국책기관과 국가생명과학단지,점천수 바카라첨단바이오의약품 클러스터를 보유하고 있어 지정 가능성이 높게 점쳤던 만큼 아쉬움도 크다는 입장이다.

다만 오가노이드 재생치료제 관련 산업이 일정 궤도에 오르면 특화단지 지정이 재개될 것으로 보고 관계된 전략사업을 지속 추진해 나간다는 계획이다.

도 관계자는 "특화단지 지정 불발은 아쉽지만,점천수 바카라오가노이드 분야를 전략산업으로 지속해서 육성하겠다는 방침에는 변함이 없다"면서 "고품질 오가노이드 제조기술 개발지원,고성능 줄기세포 개발지원 등 R&D 사업을 추진해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
