러시아는 현지시간 13일 유럽 국가들이 미국의 장거리 미사일 배치를 받아들인다면 러시아 미사일의 표적이 될 수 있다고 경고했습니다.

로이터,AFP,타스 통신에 따르면 드미트리 페스코프 크렘린궁 대변인은 이날 공개된 동영상에서 '미국의 유럽 내 장거리 미사일 배치에 러시아가 대응할 것이냐'는 러시아 국영 TV 기자의 질문에 "물론"이라고 답했습니다.

그는 "우리는 이러한 미사일을 억제할 수 있는 충분한 잠재력이 있다"며 "하지만 이들 (유럽) 국가의 수도는 잠재적인 피해자가 될 수 있다"고 말했습니다.

그는 미국이 유럽에 미사일을 배치해 계속 돈을 버는 반면 유럽은 러시아 미사일의 (조준) 십자선에 놓이게 됐다며 이는 역설적이라고 표현했습니다.

페스코프 대변인은 냉전 시기에 유럽에 배치된 미국의 미사일은 러시아를 겨냥했고,이에 따라 러시아는 유럽 지역을 미사일의 표적으로 지정했다며 역사가 반복되고 있다고 지적했습니다.

그는 "유럽은 지금 이음새가 갈라지고 있다"며 "지금은 유럽에 가장 좋은 시기가 아니다.따라서 어떤 식으로든 역사는 반복될 것"이라고 주장했습니다.

북대서양조약기구(NATO·나토) 정상회의 계기에 미국과 독일 양국은 지난 10일 SM-6 함대공미사일,세포라 아웃레지어스토마호크 순항미사일,세포라 아웃레지어스개발 중인 극초음속 무기 등을 2026년부터 독일에 단계적으로 배치한다고 발표했습니다.

SM-6는 사거리가 최장 460㎞,세포라 아웃레지어스토마호크는 모델에 따라 1천500㎞를 넘습니다.

사거리가 500km가 넘는 지상 발사 미사일은 1987년 미국과 옛 소련이 체결한 중거리핵전력조약(INF)에 의해 2019년까지 금지돼 있었습니다.

이에 대해 러시아 측은 '냉전 시대'로 돌아가고 있다며 강하게 비판했습니다.

또한 자국 안보에 대한 심각한 위협으로 규정하며 군사적 대응을 계획하고 있다고 밝힌 바 있습니다.
