온라인 쇼핑 시장 1위 업체인 쿠팡이 자체 브랜드 상품 판매를 늘리기 위해 검색 순위를 조작했다며 공정거래위원회가 과징금 천4백억 원을 부과했습니다.

온라인 유통업체에 부과한 과징금으로는 역대 최고 수준입니다.

공정거래위원회는 쿠팡이 알고리즘을 조작해 검색순위 상위에 자기 상품을 올린 사실을 적발했다고 밝혔습니다.

이에 따라 쿠팡에 시정명령과 함께 과징금 1천4백억 원을 부과했습니다.

온라인 유통업체에 부과한 과징금으로는 역대 최고 수준입니다.

공정위에 따르면 쿠팡은 지난 19년 2월부터 지난해 7월까지 최소 6만 4천여 개의 자체브랜드 상품인 PB 상품과 직매입 상품을 검색순위인 '쿠팡랭킹' 상단에 고정 노출 시켰습니다.

판매량,pc 포커구매후기 수,pc 포커평균 별점 등 소비자의 반응을 반영해 검색순위를 산정한다고 밝혔지만 실제 운영은 달랐던 겁니다.

심지어 판매가 부진하거나 납품업체로부터 리베이트를 받기로 한 업체의 상품도 검색 순위 상위에 노출되도록 조정했습니다.

이와 함께 쿠팡은 임직원 2천2백여 명을 동원해 가짜 구매 후기를 작성한 것으로도 드러났습니다.

PB 상품에 긍정적인 구매후기를 달고 높은 별점을 주는 방식으로 최소 7만 2천여 개의 구매후기를 작성해 PB상품이 검색순위 상위에 노출되도록 했다는 겁니다.

공정위는 쿠팡의 이런 조작행위로 소비자의 합리적인 구매 선택을 가로막고 21만 개 입접업체가 검색순위에 오르지 못해 피해를 입었다며 쿠팡과 쿠팡의 PB 전담회사인 씨피엘비를 검찰에 고발하기로 했습니다.

이에 대해 쿠팡은 공정위의 조치가 시대착오적이라며 행정소송을 통해 법원에서 부당함을 적극 소명하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
