3일(현지시간) 블룸버그 통신 등에 따르면 베이조스는 전날 장 마감 후 미국 증권거래위원회(SEC)에 제출한 서류를 통해 주식 2500만주를 매각하겠다는 계획을 밝혔다.

베이조스가 주식 처분 계획을 밝힌 전날 공교롭게도 아마존 주가는 주당 200달러로 마감해 역대 최고치를 기록했다.베이조스는 이르면 서류를 제출한 전날부터 주식 매각에 나설 수 있다고 밝혔다.전날 종가 기준으로 계산하면 베이조스의 주식 매각 규모는 총 50억달러에 달한다.

앞서 베이조스는 지난 2월 85억달러(약 11조7600억원) 상당의 아마존 주식을 9거래일에 걸쳐 팔아치웠다.이번에 50억달러 규모의 주식을 추가로 처분하면 올해 주식 매각 규모만 135억달러(약 18조6700억원)에 이를 전망이다.

베이조스는 이번 추가 매도 이후에도 전체 아마존 지분의 8.8%인 9억1200만주를 보유하게 된다.블룸버그에 따르면 베이조스는 순자산 2216억달러(약 306조4700억원)를 보유해 세계 2위 부호에 해당한다.

아마존 주가는 전날 주당 200달러에 마감해 지난 1997년 기업공개(IPO) 이후 최고치를 기록했다.생성형 AI 열풍으로 클라우드 사업에 대한 기대감이 높아지면서 주가가 올 들어서만 32% 급등했다.
