7일 게임업계에 따르면 스마일게이트메가포트(대표 백영훈)는 오는 12일 PC-모바일 크로스 플랫폼 MMORPG 로드나인을 한국과 대만,홍콩,돼지토끼가사 피부마카오 지역에서 동시 출시할 예정이다.이 게임은 출시 전 두 차례에 진행한 캐릭터명 선점 이벤트가 모두 조기마감되는 등 이용자들의 눈도장을 받는데 성공했다.

로드나인은 고품질 그래픽과 높은 육성 자유도를 제공하는 MMORPG다.이용자는 아홉 가지의 특색 있는 무기를 자유자재로 바꿔가며 전투를 펼치고 무기와 어빌리티를 조합해 60개 이상 캐릭터 직업을 커스터마이징할 수 있다.이 게임은 '로한M'을 만든 엔엑스쓰리게임즈(각자대표 최일돈,최재헌)가 개발을 맡았다.

스마일게이트메가포트는 지난달 로드나인을 미디어에 소개하며 '비정상의 정상화'를 내세워 이목을 끌었다.확률형 아이템을 비롯해 과도한 과금 유도가 횡행하는 여타 리니지 라이크와 다른 서비스를 선보인다는 취지다.개발 총괄을 맡은 엔엑스쓰리게임즈의 김효재 PD는 "확률형 아이템에 대한 이용자들의 스트레스를 완화하고 유료 경험치 버프 및 캐시 장비 없이도 함께 게임 환경을 즐길 수 있게 개발했다"고 설명했다.

게임업계는 '로스트아크'로 운영 측면에서 긍정적 평가를 받고 있는 스마일게이트가 리니지 라이크 시장에서도 차별화를 보여줄지 주목하는 분위기다.최근 로드나인이 판매하는 수십만원 상당의 유료 패키지가 미리 공개돼 파장이 일자 회사 측은 해당 패키지를 판매하지 않겠다고 발빠른 조치에 나서기도 했다.

지난 3일 한재영 스마일게이트 사업 총괄 이사는 직접 영상에 출연해 이용자들의 우려를 자아낸 22만원 이상 다이아(유료 재화) 패키지가 결제 편의성을 높이기 위한 상품이라고 설명한 뒤 판매 상품에서 제외하겠다고 언급해 논란을 진화했다.
