(뉴욕=연합뉴스) 이지헌 특파원 = 음악 관련 인공지능(AI) 스타트업들이 음원 저작권을 침해했다며 미국의 주요 음반사들이 소송을 제기했다고 블룸버그 통신이 24일(현지시간) 보도했다.

보도에 따르면 미국 레코드산업협회(RIAA)는 소니뮤직과 유니버설뮤직,로또 정기구매워너뮤직을 대표해 이날 AI 스타트업인 수노(Suno)와 유디오(Udio)를 상대로 손해배상을 청구하는 소송을 제기했다.

협회는 이들 2개 업체가 AI 모델을 훈련하기 위해 방대한 양의 소니뮤직 등의 음원을 무단으로 사용했다고 주장하며 저작권 침해 작품당 15만 달러의 손해배상을 요구했다.

저작권 침해 작품 규모가 크다는 점을 고려할 때 잠재적인 손해배상 청구액은 수조 원에 달할 수 있다고 블룸버그는 전했다.

RIAA의 미치 글레이저 최고경영자(CEO)는 "음악계는 AI를 받아들여 왔으며 우리는 이미 인간의 창의성에 중점을 두는 지속가능한 AI 도구를 개발하기 위해 책임감 있는 개발자들과 협력해오고 있다"라고 말했다.

이어 "동의나 대가 없이 아티스트가 평생 일군 작품을 복제하고 자신의 이익을 위해 이용하는 것이 '공정하다'고 주장하는 업체들의 서비스는 진정으로 혁신적인 모두를 위한 AI의 약속을 저버리는 것"이라고 비판했다.
