(샌프란시스코=연합뉴스) 김태종 특파원 = 가상화폐 대장주 비트코인이 12일(현지시간) 미국 소비자물가지수(CPI) 상승률 둔화 지표에 급반등했다.

미 가상화폐 거래소 코인베이스에 따르면 미 동부 시간 기준 이날 낮 12시15분(서부 오전 9시15분) 비트코인 1개당 가격은 24시간 전보다 4.75% 오른 6만9천676달러(9천521만원)에 거래됐다.

전날 6만6천 달러선도 위협받았던 비트코인 가격은 이날 한때 7만 달러선을 살짝 넘어서기도 하는 등 급반등세다.

같은 시간 시총 2위 이더리움도 24시간 전보다 4.31% 오른 3천622달러에 거래되는 등 이날 가상화폐는 일제히 큰 폭의 상승세를 나타냈다.

비트코인의 이날 상승은 미 연방준비제도(Fed·연준) 연방공개시장위원회(FOMC)의 6월 통화정책회의 결과 발표를 앞두고 나온 소비자물가지수(CPI) 상승률의 영향을 받았다.

이날 노동부가 발표한 5월 미국 CPI 상승률(3.3%)은 전월(3.4%) 대비 둔화했고 전문가 예상치(3.4%)보다 낮았다.전월과 비교해선 물가지수가 보합에 머물렀다.

5월의 CPI 상승률이 둔화하면서 기대가 꺾였던 연준의 기준금리 인하에 대한 기대감이 다시 커진 것이다.

코인 전문매체 코인데스크는 "이날 비트코인은 둔화한 인플레이션 수치를 반겼다"며 "투자자들은 통화 정책이 완화하면 가상화폐 시장의 새로운 상승세를 이끌 것으로 기대한다"고 전했다.

비트코인 가격은 최근 들어 미국 거시 경제 데이터에 매우 민감하게 반응하고 있다.

인플레이션이 지속되고 이에 금리 인하에 대한 기대감이 줄어들면서 지난 3월 7만3천달러를 넘어섰던 비트코인은 5월에는 5만7천달러대까지 폭락하기도 했다.
