지난달(5월) 말 인제 육군 12사단에서 극기훈련,이른바 '얼차려'를 받다 훈련병이 숨진 사건과 관련해 경찰 수사가 본격화되고 있습니다.

경찰은 해당 부대의 중대장과 부중대장을 피의자로 정식 입건하고 소환 조사에 나섰습니다.

조휴연 기자의 보도입니다.

강원도 인제의 육군 12사단 훈련병 사망 사건을 수사중인 경찰이,몸 둘레 재는법관할 부대 중대장인 대위와 부중대장인 중위 등 간부 2명을 피의자로 입건했습니다.

훈련병이 숨진 지 16일 만입니다.

적용된 혐의는 업무상 과실치사와 직권남용가혹행위입니다.

경찰은 또 중대장과 부중대장에게 출석을 요구했습니다.

구체적인 날짜는 못박지 않은 것으로 전해졌습니다.

피의자들은 훈련병이 숨지기 이틀 전,몸 둘레 재는법숨진 훈련병을 포함해 모두 6명에게 군기훈련을 시켰습니다.

완전 군장을 한 채 팔굽혀펴기를 하도록 시키고,몸 둘레 재는법연병장도 2바퀴를 돌도록 했는데,이 과정에서 사망자가 발생한 겁니다.

육군 자체 조사 결과,몸 둘레 재는법가혹행위가 있었다는 판단이 나왔고,몸 둘레 재는법사건을 넘겨받은 경찰은 당시 함께 군기훈련을 받은 훈련병과 군의관,병원 관계자들에 대한 참고인 조사를 벌여 왔습니다.

경찰은 그동안 국립과학수사연구원의 검사 결과를 받아본 뒤 두 사람을 조사하겠다는 신중한 입장을 밝혀왔지만,각계에서 조속한 수사를 촉구하자,더는 소환조사를 늦출 수 없다고 판단해 이들을 피의자로 전환한 것으로 보입니다.

경찰은 피의자들을 상대로 사건 당일 군기 훈련을 지시한 경위부터 집중 조사할 방침입니다.
