최저임금위원회는 2일 정부세종청사에서 열린 제7차 전원회의에서 내년 최저임금의 업종별 구분 적용 여부를 표결에 부쳤다.표결 결과 부결됐다.

앞서 경영계는 취약업종의 지불 능력을 고려해야 한다며,한식·외국식·기타 간이 음식점업과 택시 운송업,체인화 편의점업에 대해 최저임금을 구분해 적용할 필요가 있다고 주장했다.

노동계는 구분 적용이 차별이라며 강력히 반대하는 입장이었다.근로자위원 중에서도 민주노총 측 위원들은 '캐스팅보트'를 쥔 공익위원 성향이 불투명한 상황에서 표결에 부치는 것 자체를 강력하게 반대해 왔다.이날도 이미선 민주노총 부위원장은 이인재 위원장에게 표결을 재검토해달라고 강력하게 요구했으나,도박 웃대위원장이 표결을 강행했다.

현행 최저임금법엔 업종별 구분 적용이 가능하다고 규정돼 있으나,도박 웃대실제로 구분 적용이 실시된 것은 최저임금 제도 도입 첫해인 1988년이 유일하다.
