전북교육감 "교육부 규칙 개정…도교육청 심사로 신설 가능"

(전주=연합뉴스) 최영수 기자 = 전북 완주군 삼봉지구에 19학급 규모의 중학교가 2028년 개교할 전망이다.

서거석 전북특별자치도 교육감은 17일 도교육청에서 기자회견을 열어 "삼봉지구는 주택개발로 인구가 급증했지만,복권 당첨금 200만원 이하 비과세 적용 시기 및 방법학교 신설이 어려워 중학생들이 버스로 30분 거리를 다니는 등 통학 불편을 겪고 있다"며 중학교 신설 배경을 설명했다.

서 교육감은 "교육부의 '지방교육행정기관 재정투자사업 심사 규칙'이 지난해 개정돼 총사업비 300억원 미만의 학교 신설이 교육청 자체 투자심사만으로 가능하게 됐다"고 소개했다.

이에 따라 올 하반기에 도교육청 투자심사,복권 당첨금 200만원 이하 비과세 적용 시기 및 방법공유재산관리계획 도의회 심의,예산 편성 등 행정절차를 이행해 내년부터 설계 용역과 시설공사 등을 추진할 방침이라고 부연했다.

대규모 아파트 단지가 들어선 삼봉지구에는 인근 삼례동초등학교가 이전해 올해 33학급 규모로 개교했지만,복권 당첨금 200만원 이하 비과세 적용 시기 및 방법중학교는 없는 실정이다.

현재까지 삼봉지구에는 중학생 219명이 유입됐으며,복권 당첨금 200만원 이하 비과세 적용 시기 및 방법2028년에는 400명을 넘을 것으로 도교육청은 전망한다.

서 교육감은 "2028년 3월 일반 18학급과 특수 1학급 등 총 19학급 규모로 중학교 문을 여는 게 목표"라며 중학교가 개교하면 삼봉지구 교육환경이 크게 개선될 것이라고 강조했다.
