미 재무부는 이날 "우크라이나에 대한 잔인하고 도발적인 전쟁을 계속하고 있는 러시아에 대한 압력을 강화하기 위한 G7의 약속에 따라 전면적인 새로운 조치를 발표한다"며 러시아 국내외 300여개의 기관과 개인을 제재한다고 밝혔다.

재닛 옐런 미 재무장관은 "러시아 전쟁경제는 국제 금융시스템에서 깊이 고립돼 있어 러시아 군부는 외부 세계와 접촉이 절실하다"며 "오늘 조치는 중요 상품 공급에 대한 제3국 의존을 포함해 국제 자재 및 장비에 대한 러시아의 남은 방법을 공격한다"고 설명했다.

한편 미국 등 G7은 오는 13~15일 이탈리아 풀리아에서 열리는 정상회의에서 러시아 동결자산을 우크라이나 재건에 지원하는 방안을 발표할 것으로 전망된다．
