엔화[자료=연합뉴스]일본 증시와 엔화 가치가 반등 기색을 보이지 않자‘일학개미 엑소더스’가 시작됐다.

25일 한국예탁결제원 증권정보 포털(세이브로)에 따르면 국내투자자는 이달 일본 증시에서 1210만달러(약 167억원)어치를 순매도했다.

이달 일본 증시에서 1억8342만달러(약 2542억원)를 매수하고 1억9552만달러(약 2709억원)어치를 매도하면서 지난해 3월 이후 월 기준 첫 매도 우위를 보였다.

지난 3월 닛케이225 평균주가(닛케이지수)가 최초로 4만을 돌파하는 등 일본 증시의 상승세에 발맞춰 늘어나던 일학개미가 15개월만에 감소세로 꺾인 것이다.

일본은행(BOJ)의 금리 인상 기조에도 좀처럼 엔화값이 안정화되지 않고 증시도 박스권에 머물자 매도에 나선 것으로 풀이된다.

황수욱 메리츠증권 연구원은 “엔화값 방어가 안 되자 엔화 강세 전환을 향한 투자자들의 기대감이 약해진 상황”이라며 “일본 증시의 반등이 어렵다는 국제적인 시각에 맞춰서 국내투자자의 눈높이도 낮아졌다”고 말했다.

6월 들어 일학개미가 가장 많이 매도한 상품은‘아이셰어즈 20년 이상 미국채 엔화 헤지’ETF(상장지수펀드)다.

국내투자자들은 미국채와 엔화 가치 상승에 베팅하는 이 상품을 이달 4067만달러(약 563억원)어치 팔아치웠다.

엔화 약세가 해소되기 어려운 국면에서 미국채 가격이 지난달부터 우상향하자 투자자들이 매도세로 몰린 것이다.

반대로 이 기간 투자자들의 순매도 규모가 가장 컸던 상품은 미국의 장기채에 투자하지만 달러·엔 헤지가 되어 있지 않은 환 노출형인 2255 ETF였다.

기존에 엔화를 보유하고 있던 일학개미들이 엔화 가치 상승을 노리고 2255 ETF를 283만달러(약 39억원)어치 순매수한 상황이다.

김성환 신한투자증권 연구원은 “엔화로 환전을 해둔 투자자가 리벨런싱을 하면서 환 노출형 상품으로 몰린 것으로 해석된다”고 말했다.
